This piece is ranked Jyo Saku for Mumei (Kaifu) works.
Habaki: Silver-foiled single-layered habaki.
Blade Length: 45.0 cm (17.72 in).
Curvature: 1.0 cm (0.39 in).
Mekugi Hole: 1.
Width at Base (Motohaba): 2.72 cm (1.07 in).
Width at Tip (Sakihaba): 1.76 cm (0.69 in).
Thickness (Kasane): 0.65 cm (0.26 in).
Sword Weight: 450 g (0.99 lbs).
Era: Late Edo Period.
Shape: Wide blade with a gentle curvature and slightly
extended tip. The structure preserves its original form.
Jigane: Itame mixed with small itame and mokume patterns, showing well-forged steel.
Hamon: A mix of gunome midare, small gunome midare, and choji midare. The boshi is midarekomi.

Features: The Kaifu school was a group of swordsmiths active
from the mid-Muromachi period in the Kaifu region (modern Kaifu Town,
Tokushima Prefecture). Located at the southern tip of Awa Province,
they were responsible for defense against Tosa Province.
The school is believed to have originated in the late Nanbokucho period,
with founders such as Morihisa and Ujiyoshi being noted.

Koshirae: Type: Han-tachi Koshirae.
Tsuba: Iron tachi tsuba.
Fuchikashira: Shakudo with gold borders, carved with wave designs in high relief.
Saya: Black lacquer with a stone texture, featuring a family crest.
Menuki: Shakudo with gold-colored chrysanthemums.

Aoi Art’s Comment: This work features a very unique hamon attributed to the Kaifu school.
The han-tachi koshirae is well-crafted and highly valued.
