Aoi Art’s Comment: Although this piece is slightly small, it showcases the Ayasugi hada and has engravings of "Sumiyoshi Daijingu" on the front and the shrine's name on the back. Sadakazu, adopted by Sadayoshi, was named an Imperial Household Artist on April 4, 1906, and passed away at the age of 84 on July 7, 1918. He continued to create works even in his later years. Despite the many swordsmiths who had to stop working due to the Haitorei Edict, Sadakazu persevered. During that time, he had to produce some imitations, but this allowed him to hone his skills, resulting in many masterful works in later years.
