Shape: Both sides of the blade have a bohi (groove), with a thick kasane, making for a well-balanced tanto.
Jigane: The tightly forged ko-itame hada with attached jifu creates a beautiful jigane.
Hamon: Suguha with nie, featuring small ashi. The boshi is round with a return.

Features: Horii Toshihide was a swordsmith from Hokkaido, originally named Horii Kaneyoshi. He was born in Shiga Prefecture in 1886 and trained under Masuda Tanekatsu. He became a pupil of Horiū Tanenaga in 1904 and later became his adopted son and son-in-law in 1911, becoming the third generation in the Horii school. He received the character "Hide" from Mizuno Masahide in 1913, using it in various signatures. In 1933, he changed his name to Toshihide. He was known for his choji midare with nie, and incorporated the Soshu-den style from the third generation onwards.

Fuchi: Shakudo base with high-relief dragon design. Kashira: Horn.
Saya: Lacquered in red with scattered aogai (blue shell inlay).
Menuki: High-relief animal design with gold detailing.
