Features:Kawachi Kunihira, born in Osaka in Showa 16 (1941), is a renowned swordsmith whose real name is Michio.
He studied under Miyairi Akihira, a Living National Treasure, mastering the Soshu-den style.
He also trained under Sumitani Masamine, adopting the Sumitani Chōji style.
In Showa 62 (1987), he achieved Mukansa (exempt from appraisal) status and went on to produce numerous swords.
Among his notable works is the creation of the Ise Jingu Shikinen Sengu Tachi (a sacred sword for the Ise Grand Shrine's ceremonial reconstruction).
Due to his academic background at Kansai University, he has strong ties with the institution, leading to exhibitions at the Kansai University Museum.
This small blade is crafted with exceptional jigane (steel surface) and hamon (temper line), exuding vitality and presence.
