Features: The Hoju school, believed to be associated with the Soshu tradition, is thought to have its roots in Hiraizumi, where there are references to Hiraizumi Hoju. The first-generation Hoju is from the Kareki era (1326), the second from the Enbun period, and the fourth is thought to be from the Oei period. Hoju works after this fourth generation are not seen, so this blade can be considered from the late Nanbokucho to early Muromachi period. With a blade length of 76.3 cm and pronounced curvature, this is an imposing piece.

Aoi Art’s Comment: Hoju created numerous works in Hiraizumi, characterized by deep curvature and an elegant shape. This piece, with its unaltered nakago, measures 76.3 cm in length and weighs 895 grams.
