Era: the end of Edo period (1865)
Shape: wide and thick blade with deep curveture and long kissaki. There is about 5cm of Ububa. The long nakago is typical work of Moritoshi.
Jigane: fine Ko-itame hada with Jinie. Shinogi-ji is the same.
Hamon: Uniform Gunome-midare with Ashi and Yo. Sunagashi and Kinsuji workds. Boshi is midare komi.
Features: Seiryuken Moritoshi was a swordsmith from Iwakuni(Yamaguchi prefecture). He was moved to Edo in 1837 and studied under Chounsai Tsunatoshi. He was such an avid swordsmith that he traveled all over the country to improve his skills and served a feudal lord in Iwakuni. His master Tsunatoshi trusted him so much that he sent his son to train under Moritoshi. He died in 1867 at the age of 66.
Features:
The evenly spaced Gunome-midare seem to convey the meticulousness and sincerity if Moritoshi devoted himself to sword making. It is a work with Itame-koma , which is rare for Moritoshi, and is sound and of excellent workmanship.
