Era: the end of Kamakura period to the early Nanbokucho period.
Shape: Osuriage Mumei blade with Mitsumune. Kissaki is slightly big. Bohi and Soe-hi is carved on the both sides.
Jigane: extremely fine Ko-itame with much Jinie. Random pale utsuri appears.
Hamon: Nioi base Suguha with Ashi. Boshi is rounded.
Features: Aoe school was a swordsmith school in Bicchu. Works made until mid-Kamakura period are called Ko(old)-Aoe, and later works are simply called Aoe. The blade pattern of this work is bright and shining Nioi-base Suguha, which is characteristic of Aoe. In contrast, the old Aoe has a Ko-nie base Suguha.
Koshirae:
Tsuba: Oval-shaped iron tsuba with a high-relief carving of a dragon.
Fuchikashira: High-relief depiction of what appears to be leaves of the icho (ginkgo) tree, made of suaka with shakudo nanako ground.
Saya: Black lacquered scabbard.
