The box is decorated with maki-e designs of pine trees, bamboo, plum blossoms, cranes and turtles. The box contains Inkstone, two brushes, an awl, and a small knife decorated with maki-e. The one in the shape of a house is a small pitcher. This work is a gorgeous piece with abundant maki-e lacquer. The pine tree, bamboo, and plum blossom symbolize good fortune, and the crane and turtle symbolize longevity.
Please note that the awl has a cap, but it does not fit well.
