Jigane: Well-forged ko-itame hada with excellent grain.
Hamon: Bright, gine Nie-deki Gunome-Midare with Sunagashi and Kinsuji.

Features: The hamon is bright and clear, with a nioi-deki appearance and features sunagashi and kinsugi within the blade.

Koshirae:
Tsuba: Oval-shaped tsuba decorated with waves and splashes in silver, depicting chidori flying among the waves.
Fuchikashira: Shakudo nanako with gold inlay patterns.
Menuki: Long dragon carving with gold detailing.

Aoi Art’s Comment: This work was previously awarded NBTHK KoshuTokubetsu Kicho Token status and has now received the Tokubetsu Hozon Token. It is a robust tanto in the style of Kagehiro, popular around the end of the Edo period. The blade is thick and sturdy with a deep nioi-guchi in the gunome-midare pattern. The koshirae is also well-crafted and unique. This tanto and koshirae are highly recommended.
