Era: the Edo period
Features: Round-shape iron tsuba with openwork carving. The thick circle is called Jyanome(蛇目, eys of snake) and meant to ward off evil. Shoami was a metalsmith school in Kyoto from the late Muromachi period to the end of Edo period, and the early ones from Muromachi to the eraly Edo period are called Ko(old)-Shoami.
