Supplemental Information:Yoshihiro Kubo (Yoshihiro) 善博 studied swordsmithing under Yoshihiro Yoshihara in Tokyo and earned his swordsmithing license in 1994 (Heisei 6). He later relocated to Shimane Prefecture to learn the traditional Japanese tatara steelmaking method and, in 2001 (Heisei 13), established the Zenpaku Japanese Sword Forging Dojo in Saijo, Shobara City, Hiroshima Prefecture, where he continues his work to this day. His works and sword-forging techniques are highly esteemed, and he has won the highest honors, such as the Takamatsu-no-Miya Memorial Prize, three times at the New Japanese Sword Exhibition. In addition, he was designated as an Intangible Cultural Property Holder by Hiroshima Prefecture in 2016 (Heisei 28) and as a “mukansa” (exempt from evaluation) swordsmith by the New Japanese Sword Exhibition in 2017 (Heisei 29). Most recently, in 2022 (Reiwa 4), he received the Grand Prize at the Reiwa Master Sword and Swordsmith Exhibition. Currently, he serves as Vice President of the All Japan Swordsmith Association, dedicating himself to the development of the Japanese sword-making community.
