The piece is O-suriage mume but has an old tradition of Samonji.
This work is wide and has large Kissaki, which it typical of the grand style of Enbun and Joji era, and it is reasonable to consider it to the work of Osa school, and among them, Sadayoshi has the most gentle style. Jigane and Hamon with a lot of Nie is resonance, and the bright and brilliant jigane should be admired.

Kissaki. Bo-hi is engraved on both side.
Jigane : Ko-Niedeki-Hada and Ko-Mokume-Hadame-Hada mixed. Utsuri appeared beautiful Jigane.
Hamon : Ko-Niedeki Suguha and Ko-Gunome midare. Boshi is midarekomi and pointed.

Special feature: O-Samonji (Ōsa), the founder of Samonji and the master of Sadayoshi, was the swordsmith in Kyushu. He broke away from the previous Kyushu style and created a new style in which both the blade and the ground are bright and brilliant and Chikei and Kinsuji are mixed. His many apprentice succeed his style and they are called Sue-Sa(末左, late Sa).
