Shape: The sword is nearly in its original state, with double hi (grooves) carved on both sides. It has a deep curvature and an elegantly extended tip, giving it a refined and graceful appearance.
Jigane: The forging pattern is fine ko-itame-hada with elements of masame-hada, and a subtle utsuri can be seen on the surface.
Hamon: The hamon is a suguha base with fine ashi and delicate kinsuji activity. The boshi returns in a rounded shape.

Features: Tegai Kanetoshi was a disciple of Tegai Kaneyuki and an active swordsmith during the Nanbokucho period around the Eitoku era, approximately 634 years ago.

Aoi Art’s Comment: The Tegai school has long been known for its mastery of the suguha style, incorporating fine ashi, kinsuji, futatsuha (double hamon), and other dynamic features. This is a flawless work from the Yamato tradition, free from defects, and with a beautiful curvature. Kanetoshi, a prominent member of the Tegai school, specialized in the suguha hamon, producing elegant and varied works of high refinement. This piece is highly recommended.
