Hamon: The hamon is a gunome-midare pattern with a deep nioiguchi. It has well-developed ashi, sunagashi activities in the blade, and an active kinsuji. The boshi resembles the head of a viper (mamushi) in the style of the Kotetsu boshi.

Features: Hida no Kami Fujiwara Ujifusa worked from the late Muromachi to the Keicho era, and while most of his works display a natural hamon, this piece with a gunome-midare pattern is rare.

Aoi Art’s Comment: Ujisada, active from the Azuchi-Momoyama to the early Edo period, was a famous swordsmith who produced many works with a natural style. Mino smiths like Mino no Kuni Ujisada, Wakasa no Kami Ujisada, and Hida no Kami Fujiwara Ujifusa, as well as many other Mino and Owari smiths, created masterpieces. Among them, Hida no Kami Fujiwara Ujifusa is particularly favored by collectors, and I have also collected such works in the past. I highly recommend this excellent piece by Hida no Kami Fujiwara Ujifusa.
