Features: Taira Takada comes from the Takada school of Bungo province. The Takada smiths originated from the Heian period around 1487 and belong to the Taira lineage of smiths. This piece displays a nioi straight hamon with utsuri, showing some hardness in the pattern, giving an aged impression. Taira Takada's works range widely, from Ichimonji-style to Aoe-style, and while some people believe they date mostly to the late Muromachi period, many of their works are older than expected.
