We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo Saku, Jyojyo Saku, Jyo Saku, and Regular Saku.
This piece is ranked as Jyo Saku among the works attributed to Mumei (Den Bizen Motozane).

Habaki: Double-layered gold foil.
Blade Length: 57.0cm (22.4in)
Curvature: 0.6cm (0.2in)
Mekugi Hole: 2, one of which is filled
Width at Base: 3.0cm (1.2in)
Thickness: 0.4cm (0.2in)
Sword Weight: 405 g
Era: the late Kamakura period around Bunpo era(1317-1319)
Shape: A very rare form known as "Satsuma-age" or "stabbing sword." This is likely a naginata that was converted into a long wakizashi.
Jigane: Itame hada mixed with masame, with utsuri appearing.
Hamon: Gunome midare and suguha with Koashi.

Features: While the usual suriage involves cutting off the lower part of the sword, this work is thought to have been made by cutting off the Kissaki of a naginata to make a wakizashi. The Hozon paper image shows two Mekugi holes, but one has now been filled.
