Mumei attribute as Gassan
Special feature:Gassan is the name of one of a holy mountain
in Yamagata pref, where had been prospered gathering ascetics,
merchants and swordsmiths from ancient times.
Swordsmiths lived at the base of Mt. Gassan formed a school
and forged swords with peculiar texture of Jagane called Ayasugi-hada
around the Kamakura period. On and after the middle Muromachi period,
swordsmiths started to inscribe their individual swordsmith name on the
sword tang. The school once declined in the Edo period. Gassan Sadayoshi
moved to Osaka and revived the tradition in the last Edo period.
It has succeeded continuously until today.
