Aoi Art’s Comment: This Juyo Token is a work of exceptional quality with a finely forged jigane. Belonging to the Taima school, it dates from the late Kamakura to early Nanbokucho period and has been designated as the 25th Juyo Token. The blade is healthy, and the hamon is suguha with ashi in places. The boshi resembles Nagamitsu's style, curving slightly and returning in a refined small maru shape.

Historical Background: The Nanbokucho period was a time of political division between the Northern and Southern courts, with the Ashikaga shogunate rising to power as the imperial family failed to maintain political control.
